From Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia Dean Saunders (born 21 June 1964 in Swansea) was a Welsh footballer and was a prolific forward.
He is probably best known for playing for Aston Villa. However he also played for Swansea City, Cardiff City, Brighton, Oxford United, Derby County, Liverpool, Galatasaray, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Benfica and Bradford City.
He played for only one season at Liverpool but forged a strong partnership with a youngster at the time, Steve McManaman, in the club's return to European Club competition that year, where at the climax of the season, Saunders was part of the FA Cup winning side of 1992.
He scored two goals for Aston Villa in the League Cup final in 1994 against Manchester United.
He was a legendary Welsh international, winning 75 caps, scoring 22 goals.
Saunders currently works as a senior coach under Graeme Souness at Newcastle United.
